Yo no vivo en Varissuo, pero trabajo
y paso la mayor parte del tiempo en este maravilloso barrio a las afueras de
Turku. Hace un año vine a Yhdessä- Yhdistys, Asociación Juntos, en busca de
prácticas y, poco a poco, me fui metiendo tanto en el lugar, sus gentes, que
solo quería permanecer allí. Varissuo se convirtió en un lugar indispensable
para mí, mi lugar soleado en Finlandia.
Varissuo tiene un color especial: la
fusión de culturas, la variedades de eventos, la belleza de los bosques
entremezclados con lo urbano, incluso nidos de pájaros hechos por la mano del
hombre…
Soy Varissueña porque Varissuo es un
lugar que acoge a todo el mundo, independientemente la raza o de tus origenes.
Varissuo es un lugar cosmopolita, intercultural y pluricultural. Aquí las razas
conviven en armonía y hay un ambiente de tolerancia. Quizás por ello necesito
estar cerca de Varissuo, por la riqueza que aporta y por lo mucho que aprendo
en este flujo pluricultural. La oportunidad de cocinar y probar comidas de
países como Sudan, Brasil, Rusia o Irán; de aprender y practicar idiomas muy
diversos; y el placer de conocer otras culturas, sus costumbres, sus
tradiciones… Todo eso y mucho más es lo que Varissuo puede ofrecer: el mundo en
tus manos!

I don’t live in Varissuo, but I work and I
spend most of my time in this wonderful neigborhood in the suburbs of Turku. A
year ago I came to Yhdessä-yhdistys looking for an intership and little by
little I got so much into the place and the people of Varissuo, I only wanted
to stay! Varissuo became an indispensable place for me, my shiny place in
Finland.
Varissuo is a very special place which offers a
fusion of cultures, variety of events and the beauty of the urban environment mixed
with forests and wild nature… you can even find man made bird nests in
Varissuo!
I feel from Varissuo because Varissuo embraces
you, regardless of your race or your origins. Varissuo is a cosmopolitan place,
intercultural and pluricultural where all races meet and live in harmony. Maybe
this is why I need to be close to Varissuo, because of its richness and the
amounts of things that pluriculturism brings me! The opportunity to cook and
taste foods from different countries like Sudan, Brasil, Rusia or Iran; the
chance to learn and practice other languages; and the immense pleasure of
getting to know other cultures, costumes and traditions… That and much more is
what Varissuo has to offer: the world in your hands!
